Kaitlin and Nik had their wedding on a chilly autumn day at the Rock Island Lake Club. The skies were cloudy, but the atmosphere was anything but; there was plenty of warmth and cheer on everyone’s face on this special day.
Kaitlin and Nik are a beautiful couple who have known each other for nearly a lifetime. Kate had been best friends with Nik’s sister, Rachel, since first grade. Nik and Rachel’s family had moved out of state, and while Kaitlin had always liked Nik, it wasn’t until about four years ago when she went to visit Rachel that Nik finally really noticed her in a special way. As they say, the rest is history!
Just to show you how close they all are and how closely their lives are intertwined, Rachel is also engaged to Nik’s best friend and best man, Tom. Being around these two families, you could really tell they all have known one another for many years. As I watched the two mothers walk down the driveway holding hands, I could sense a significant bond between them. One can imagine how the joy of the occasion must’ve been multiplied when you share so much history together.
On the wedding day, we started with photos at Kate’s home and by the lake in front of the house. The traditional catholic service was held at St. John Vianney Church. After the ceremony, we headed to Rock Island Lake Club for more photos and the reception. The trees had just started to turn so we had some beautiful fall foliage colors.
The florist Cindy from Floral Gallery did an amazing job with arrangements that coordinated with the season and the bridesmaid dresses. Deep red Black Pearl roses nestled amongst burgundy astilbe and seeded eucalyptus, echoing beautiful autumn colors and bringing in an elegant look with a rustic touch.
